About New Americans Code
New Americans Code helps refugees who have the aptitude, desire and commitment to learn basic coding and prepare them for a career in web development. Southern Idaho is one of several designated refugee resettlement areas in America. Since 1980, some 19,000 refugees from nearly 50 countries have started new lives in Idaho. At the same time, there is a shortage of web developers in Boises sizable technology industry and beyond. At New Americans Code, we believe we can serve both.

New Americans Code emphasizes basic web development skills. Graduates of the program will be eligible to work as a trainee junior developer. Or, they will be well-prepared to enroll at Boise CodeWorks, Stevens-Henager College, University of Phoenix, College of Western Idaho or other local schools, to learn the full suite of web skills.

New Americans Code is free to attend. Students must have basic familiarity with computers, high intellectual capacity and intermediate English. And most importantly, a very strong desire to learn, to persist and to feel good when they put their skills to work.

Students will learn the foundations of front-end development: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, PHP, jQuery, Bootstrap and Git. They will also establish Github and LinkedIn profiles and create their own personal page to display their skills.
